Dear Family and Friends,
It hasn't even been a week since I left, but it feels like it's been a month. I absolutely love the MTC. I am learning lots about missionary work and the gospel. When I first got here one of my zone leaders said something like, "forget what Disney says, the MTC is the happiest place on earth!" I think that's a perfect description of it.:)
My days are SUPER busy and long. Every day feels like a week. It is a wonderful experience to be growing through the Spirit. I am excited to be serving The Lord.I ran into Elder Baxter, Elder Huffaker, Sister Clegg, and Sister Gooch. It is fun to see people I know. It helps to see familiar faces. I haven't had time to be homesick, which is a huge blessing.
I have blisters on my feet, the food is not very good, and the showers are disgusting. However, the experiences I am having make up for all this.
On Sunday night we watched a video by Elder Bednar called "The Character of Christ". He talked about how the essence of the character of Christ is that when the natural man would turn inward, Jesus Christ turns outward. I have tried to focus my practice teaching on being selfless and showing charity. One of my teachers says to teach every lesson as if it would change a person's life...because it will! :) this is my goal.
My companion is from Springville, UT. That's about 10 minutes away. Ha ha. She is very tall, so we look like quite the pair. She and I are very different and we balance each other out well. I am attaching a picture of us on our first day.
Our teachers are great. They bring a great spirit to class every day and teach us so much. I also have a great district and zone. We get along well and have tons of fun. I am also attaching pictures of us at the temple on Sunday. We walked to the grounds to spend some time there.
The MTC presidency and some of their wives spoke to us on our first day. One of them said to wake up every morning and put a smile on your face. She also said, "the direction the corners of your mouth point is the way your day will go." :) I like that and try to do it all day every day.I got called as the music coordinator with my companion for my branch here. I will be doing it for one Sunday. Ha. I leave on July 29. My plain departs at 10:07 a.m. My entire district and a few other Orlando bound missionaries will be on the same plane. I'm excited!
How is everyone doing there? What's new this week? I don't know when my P day will be next week because I will be in Florida already. Until then, may The Lord bless you all.
I apologize that I haven't had time to respond to personal emails today. I love you all. Hope you are having a great week. Thanks for the kind words.
Keep the faith,
Sister Stevens
P.S. I really appreciate getting letters...it's like Christmas! :) SO, keep them coming!
